Designing Invitations Right
The invitation is your guests' first contact with the event – and first impressions count. A well designed invitation builds anticipation, informs about all important details, and reflects your event's character.
Digital or Print?
Digital Invitations : Fast, cost effective, and environmentally friendly. Ideal for after work events, birthday parties, and informal occasions. Tools like Canva or specialized event platforms offer professional templates. The advantage: RSVP tracking and easy follow ups.
Printed Invitations : Tactile quality and value that digital invitations cannot offer. For weddings, anniversaries, and formal corporate events, they make a clear statement. High quality paper, embossing, and special printing techniques like letterpress or foil stamping impress.
Essential Content
Every invitation should contain the following information: occasion, date and time, venue with address and directions, dress code, RSVP deadline, and contact person. For events with children: inform whether childcare is offered. For outdoor events: note about weather appropriate clothing and Plan B.
Design Tips
Match the invitation design to your event theme. Use a maximum of two fonts and a cohesive color concept. Less is more – don't overload the invitation with too much information. Important details like date and location should be recognizable at first glance. For digital invitations, include a direct link to directions and RSVP function.
Timing Is Everything
Send save the date cards six to eight months before major events like weddings. The actual invitation should go out eight to twelve weeks beforehand. For informal events, four to six weeks is sufficient. Set an RSVP deadline at least three weeks before the event.
